Is 90% off Hostinger real? The honest answer

No — not from one coupon, and not today. Hostinger's own India coupons page advertises "up to 83% off", and that is the ceiling on the sale itself. The 90% figure you see in headlines comes from multiplying two separate discounts together, which is a fair thing to do as long as somebody shows you the working.

Here is the working. Single lists at ₹399/mo and sells at ₹69/mo on the 48-month term — that is 83% off. The extra 20% is not a second coupon; it is a multiplier applied to the already-discounted price. So ₹69 × 0.80 = ₹55.20/mo, and ₹55.20 against ₹399 is about 86% off, not 90%. On Premium the same method gives ₹149 × 0.80 = ₹119.20, or roughly 80% off ₹599.

For 90% to be literally true on Single, the final price would have to be ₹39.90/mo, which means the base sale itself would need to reach roughly 87–88% before the extra 20% is applied. Hostinger does say on that same page that it frequently offers discounts of up to 90% on certain plans, and in a peak window such as Black Friday the base percentage does climb — so 90% is a seasonal possibility, not the everyday number.

What is not achievable is the rest of it. If you have landed on a page promising 93%, 97% or even 98% off, no combination of Hostinger's sale and one coupon produces that on a single Indian order — the arithmetic above is the whole of it, and there is no third layer. I would rather you check my numbers against Hostinger's checkout than take either of us on faith.

The lowest price you can actually pay in September 2026

Every figure below is the 48-month term, pre-GST. The "stacked" column is the sale price with the extra 20% applied — the lowest legitimate number on the Indian site. The renewal column is the one to read twice, because that is what you pay from year five onward.

One plan-selection warning that the discount table hides: Single is the cheapest and the deepest discount, but it carries one website and no free domain. The gap between Single and Premium after the stack is ₹64/mo — about ₹3,072 across the term — which is usually less than buying a domain separately for four years.

What you actually pay at checkout after 18% GST

The ₹149/mo on Hostinger's site excludes GST, and the full 48-month term is billed upfront in one payment. So the number that leaves your account is nothing like the monthly figure in the ad. Two multiplications get you to it: monthly price × 48, then × 1.18. Here is what that produces:

There is a real advantage here for anyone with a GSTIN. Enter it at checkout and Hostinger issues a tax invoice, which means a registered business claims the 18% back as input credit and the effective cost is the pre-GST column. For a freelancer or agency that turns Premium into ₹5,721.60 for four years rather than ₹6,751.49. Why the 48-month term holds the discount

The advertised discount is attached to the 48-month term and nothing else. On a 12-month term the percentage shrinks noticeably, and on monthly billing it is close to zero. This is not a quirk of one sale — it is how Hostinger's pricing is built, and it is the single fact that decides how much you pay.

The honest way to look at it is total cost of ownership, not the monthly sticker. Premium with the stack is ₹5,721.60 for four years pre-GST. Buy twelve months instead and you will be renewing at ₹449/mo for the following three years, which is ₹16,164 for years two to four alone — before you count the first year at all. That is roughly three times the cost of the four-year commitment for exactly the same hosting.

So say what the discount actually is: a price lock, not a giveaway. What you buy with a 48-month commitment is four years of protection from the renewal rate. Hostinger is not being generous; it is trading a deep first-term price for four years of certainty on its side of the ledger, and that trade happens to favour you if the project lasts.

The counter-case matters too. If you genuinely do not know whether this project will exist in twelve months, do not solve that by picking a shorter term — you will pay more per month and still be locked in. Use the 30-day money-back window instead: buy the term you want, build the thing, and refund inside thirty days if it is clearly not happening. That is the correct way to test, and it is the only route that costs you nothing.

Can you stack two coupon codes? Hostinger's own rule

No. Hostinger allows exactly one coupon per order and says so on its official coupons page: "Hostinger coupons are limited to one per order, so unfortunately no, you cannot use multiple coupons at the same time." Any page telling you to paste two codes is describing something the checkout will not do.

That is not a contradiction of the word "stack" on this page, and the distinction is worth being precise about. The seasonal sale discount is not a coupon — it is applied automatically based on the plan and term you select, before any code is entered. So the stack is one automatic sale plus one code, which is the only combination the system permits. If a coupon site tells you to layer three codes for 97% off, this rule is the reason it cannot work.

Why your Hostinger coupon code says invalid (and how to fix it)

Almost every "invalid code" message comes down to one of seven causes, and the term selector is the most common by a distance. Work down this list in order — it is roughly ordered by how often each one turns out to be the problem:

   The code expired. Hostinger rotates codes with each sale window, and coupon aggregators leave dead codes online for months because an expired code still earns them a click.

   The code is tied to a specific plan tier. A code written for Premium will not attach to a Single or Cloud Startup cart.

   The code needs the 48-month term and you have 12 months selected. This is the single most common cause — change the term selector and try again before you blame the code.

   The code is restricted to new orders. Hostinger says existing customers can still use discount codes when ordering a new plan, but a renewal is not a new order and codes do not apply to it.

   You are past the coupon field. The code goes into the "Have a coupon code?" field under the order summary, not on the payment step.

   A coupon is already attached to the cart. Only one is allowed per order, so a second one silently fails — remove the first if you want to test another.

7. 7

   A typo, a trailing space, or the wrong case. Pasting from a coupon site is the usual culprit because most of them copy an invisible space along with the code.

The fixes are unglamorous and they work: retype the code by hand rather than pasting it, open the checkout in an incognito window with extensions disabled so no cashback plugin overwrites the code, re-check that the term selector says 48 months, and confirm the discount line appears in the order summary before you reach the payment step. If the summary does not show it, do not pay and hope — the discount is applied at that moment or not at all. Does the discount apply to renewals? No — here is what does

The extra 20% applies to new purchases only and never to a renewal. Neither do the public sale codes. When your term ends you move to the standard renewal rate: Single ₹289/mo, Premium ₹449/mo, Unlimited ₹649/mo and Cloud Startup ₹1,599/mo. That is three to four times the intro price, and any page that does not tell you this before you buy is not on your side.

Four things do work for existing customers, in descending order of how little effort they cost:

• Check hPanel first. Hostinger states that its renewal discounts are accessed from hPanel, so the renewal screen — not a coupon site — is where any offer you qualify for appears.
• Renew on a longer term. Renewal rates are term-tiered the same way intro rates are, so compare per-month figures across terms instead of defaulting to twelve months.
• Ask live chat. Loyalty offers are discretionary and account-specific — no code to quote and no guarantee, but a polite ask from a multi-year customer occasionally works.
• Buy a new plan instead of renewing. Hostinger says existing customers can use discount codes when ordering a new plan, so intro pricing is available on a new order — you just move the site yourself, which my WordPress migration guide covers.

The prices no discount touches: domains and transfers

The hosting discount never applies to a domain. Domains are priced separately and renew separately, and they are the line item that surprises people two years in — because registration is cheap and renewal is not. In India a .com is about ₹149 for the first year and a .in about ₹99, but renewals run roughly ₹1,000–1,400 for a .com, every year, forever. Transferring an existing .com in costs ₹969 and normally adds a year of registration, so a transfer often beats paying your current registrar's renewal.

That arithmetic forces a correction to something this page used to say. An earlier version valued the free first-year domain at "around ₹799". That is wrong — a first-year .com is about ₹149. The free domain's real value is that it defers the ₹1,000–1,400 renewal by twelve months, which is meaningful but a different thing entirely. The free domain fine print: claim it last, not first

A free domain is not a discount line on your hosting invoice. It is a real twelve-month registration made in your name at a registry, and it behaves like a separate product from that moment on. That distinction matters most when you are thinking about a refund.

The 30-day money-back guarantee covers the hosting. A domain you have already claimed and activated is a separate question governed by the terms shown at your checkout — read them there before you claim, because they vary by extension and by how far the registration has progressed. Do not assume a hosting refund quietly unwinds a live registration.

The practical rule that avoids the whole problem: test the hosting first, claim the domain once you have decided to stay. Spend a few days on real pages, check speed with Indian visitors, poke at hPanel. If the host is not for you, refund cleanly inside the window. If it is, claim the domain then — it is not going anywhere, and Single buyers should note the plan does not include one at all.

Should you wait for Black Friday? The 2026 sale calendar

Wait only if your launch is more than about eight weeks away. Black Friday falls on 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday on 30 November 2026, and Hostinger's sale window has historically run from late October into early December, with Diwali and New Year promotions either side of it.

Now be specific about what actually changes, because this is where most "wait for the mega sale" advice is lazy. The extra 20% layer is constant all year — it does not deepen in November. The only thing that moves is the base sale percentage, and it moves by a few points, not by half.

Put rupees on it. If Premium's base sale went from 75% to 80%, the sale price would fall from ₹149 to ₹119.80 — about ₹29/mo, or roughly ₹1,400 across the full 48-month term. After the extra 20% is applied to both, the real gap narrows to about ₹1,121. That is the prize for waiting eleven weeks with a site that does not exist, is not being indexed, and is not earning. For most people the arithmetic says buy now; if you already have a working site and are simply moving hosts, waiting is genuinely free and you should.

What the same stack does to KVM VPS plans

The extra 20% applies to KVM VPS orders on the same terms as shared hosting, and because VPS list prices are higher the absolute saving is larger. Same rules apply: the discount lives on the long term, and the renewal is the number to plan around.

Hostinger states the hardware plainly: AMD EPYC processors in HPE and Dell servers, NVMe storage across the range, and a 1 Gbps network. VPS carries the same 30-day money-back guarantee as shared hosting. The honest caveat is that a VPS is unmanaged — you own the updates, the firewall and the backups — so it is the right buy for a developer and the wrong buy for someone who wants a control panel to handle everything. Students, agencies and businesses: which route is cheapest

For students, the plain answer is that the standard route usually wins. Hostinger's own India coupons page does not list a student discount at all, and there is no free tier for students — Single at ₹55.20/mo after the extra 20% on the 48-month term is already the cheapest entry point on the site. The 30-day money-back guarantee is the only genuine risk-free trial that exists here, and any student or seasonal code you do find is still bound by the one-coupon-per-order rule above.

The comparison that matters for a freelancer is Agency Startup against several separate Unlimited plans. Hostinger vs GoDaddy: the discount that matters is the renewal

Both providers discount the first term hard, which makes intro prices a poor way to choose between them. Every Indian host runs the same play — a deep first-term rate, a much higher standard rate afterwards — so comparing the two advertised numbers tells you almost nothing about what four or six years will cost.

Compare the renewal instead, because that is the price you pay for most of the relationship. Hostinger's published renewal rates are ₹289/mo on Single, ₹449/mo on Premium, ₹649/mo on Unlimited and ₹1,599/mo on Cloud Startup — put those beside whatever your shortlisted alternative renews at, on the same term, and the decision usually makes itself.
