"Why not just use free hosting?" — the honest answer
Because free hosting companies have to make money somehow: ads injected into your pages, aggressive upsells, sleeping sites, no custom domain, or sudden shutdowns. I have migrated enough panicked clients off dead free hosts to say this plainly: if the site matters, free classic hosting is the most expensive option — you pay in downtime and migration pain.
