Best VPS Hosting in India 2026: Real Prices, Real Renewals

Best VPS hosting providers in India compared for 2026

The 30-second answer

  • Best value in INR: Hostinger KVM 1 — ₹599/mo for 4GB RAM and 50GB NVMe, plus a free domain.
  • Best infrastructure: DigitalOcean — from $4/mo, mature API, snapshots, proper docs.
  • Cheapest raw: Vultr — from $2.50/mo IPv6-only, $5 for a usable 1GB instance.
  • Best if you don't want to be a sysadmin: Cloudways — managed layer on top of DO/Vultr, from $11/mo.
  • Don't buy a VPS at all if you run one WordPress blog. Shared hosting from ₹149/mo is genuinely enough.

Quick comparison

ProviderStarts atManaged?Free domainBest for
Hostinger KVM₹599/moNo (root access)Yes, year 1Best RAM per rupee; Indian billing
DigitalOcean$4/moNoNoDevelopers who want a real cloud API
Vultr$2.50/moNoNoCheapest entry; wide region choice
Cloudways$11/moYesNoVPS power without server admin

Cloudways runs on top of DigitalOcean, Vultr, AWS, Google Cloud and Linode — you are paying for their management layer, not different hardware.

Hostinger KVM — every plan and its renewal

Hostinger is the only provider here that prices in rupees, includes a free domain, and gives you 4GB of RAM at the entry tier. It is also the one where the renewal rate matters most.

PlanIntroRenews atCPURAMDiskBandwidth
KVM 1₹599/mo₹999/mo1 vCPU4 GB50 GB NVMe4 TB
KVM 2₹799/mo₹1,199/mo2 vCPU8 GB100 GB NVMe8 TB
KVM 4₹1,099/mo₹2,399/mo4 vCPU16 GB200 GB NVMe16 TB
KVM 8₹2,199/mo₹4,399/mo8 vCPU32 GB400 GB NVMe32 TB

Note the shape of that renewal column: KVM 1 goes up by about 67%, but KVM 4 more than doubles. If you are buying the bigger tiers, the long term is where the value is — the same pattern I broke down for their shared plans in the renewal price guide.

DigitalOcean — the developer default

DigitalOcean is what most developers reach for, and the reason is not price — it is that everything works the way you expect. Snapshots, floating IPs, a clean API, and documentation that is genuinely good. Their Droplet pricing:

PricevCPURAMSSDTransfer
$4/mo1 vCPU512 MB10 GB500 GB
$6/mo1 vCPU1 GB25 GB1 TB
$12/mo1 vCPU2 GB50 GB2 TB
$24/mo2 vCPU4 GB80 GB4 TB
$48/mo4 vCPU8 GB160 GB5 TB

Compare honestly: at roughly ₹2,000 the $24 Droplet gives 4GB RAM and 2 vCPU. Hostinger's ₹599 KVM 1 gives 4GB RAM and 1 vCPU. On RAM per rupee Hostinger wins decisively; on tooling, regions and reliability DigitalOcean does.

Worth knowing before you sign up

DigitalOcean runs a referral programme that gives new accounts $200 in credit, valid for 60 days. That is a genuinely large amount of free compute — enough to run a small production server for most of a year, or to test properly before committing. Always sign up through a referral link rather than the plain homepage.

Vultr — cheapest way in

Vultr undercuts everyone at the bottom: around $2.50/month for an IPv6-only instance, $3.50 for 512MB, and $5 for a 1GB Cloud Compute instance that is actually usable. High Performance and High Frequency tiers start around $6.

Two caveats worth reading twice. The $2.50 tier is IPv6-only, which means a meaningful share of the internet cannot reach it — do not buy that for production. And the cheapest tiers are limited to certain regions, so check that a location near your users is available before you commit. [AFFILIATE_LINK: VULTR]

Cloudways — VPS power, no server admin

Cloudways is not a hosting company in the usual sense. It is a management layer that runs on top of DigitalOcean, Vultr, AWS, Google Cloud or Linode. You pick the underlying provider, Cloudways handles the stack: server setup, caching, SSL, staging, backups, updates.

Pricing starts around $11/month on DigitalOcean, about $14 on standard Vultr and $16 on Vultr high-frequency. You are paying roughly 2–3× the raw server cost for the management — which is either excellent value or pointless overhead depending entirely on whether you enjoy server administration.

Cloudways has a real referral programme too

New users get $25 in hosting credit when they sign up through an existing customer's referral link. Like DigitalOcean's, this is credit you actually receive — not just a commission for the referrer.

Managed or unmanaged — the question that actually matters

JobUnmanaged (DO, Vultr, Hostinger KVM)Managed (Cloudways)
Install web server & PHPYouDone for you
SSL certificatesYou (Certbot)One click
Security patchesYou, foreverHandled

Be honest with yourself here. An unmanaged VPS you never patch is less secure than good shared hosting. If server maintenance is not something you will actually do every month, pay the managed premium — or stay on managed cloud hosting instead and skip the VPS entirely.

Which one should you buy?

You want the most RAM for your rupee

Hostinger KVM 1 or KVM 2. 4–8GB of RAM at ₹599–₹799/mo with an Indian billing experience and a free domain is not matched by anyone here.

You are a developer building something real

DigitalOcean. The API, snapshots and documentation are worth the premium, and the $200 signup credit removes the cost of the first year of learning.

You want the cheapest possible starting point

Vultr at $5/mo for 1GB. Skip the $2.50 IPv6-only tier for anything public-facing.

You want VPS performance but hate server admin

Cloudways from $11/mo. You are paying for the thing you do not want to do.

FAQ — VPS hosting in India

What is the cheapest VPS hosting in India?

On raw price, Vultr is cheapest — around $2.50/month for an IPv6-only instance and $3.50 for a 512MB plan, though both are limited to certain regions. DigitalOcean starts at $4/month. In rupee terms Hostinger's KVM 1 is ₹599/month, which looks higher until you notice it includes 4GB of RAM against DigitalOcean's 512MB at $4.

Is Hostinger VPS good value compared to DigitalOcean?

For RAM per rupee, yes — clearly. Hostinger KVM 1 gives 4GB RAM and 50GB NVMe for ₹599/month; the closest DigitalOcean equivalent on RAM is the $24 plan (4GB, 2 vCPU), which is roughly ₹2,000. DigitalOcean wins on infrastructure maturity, API, snapshots and regional choice. Hostinger wins on price and on having an Indian billing experience.

What is the difference between managed and unmanaged VPS?

Unmanaged means you get a bare server and everything above the operating system is your job: web server, PHP, SSL, security patches, backups, monitoring. Managed means a provider handles that layer for you. DigitalOcean and Vultr are unmanaged. Cloudways is managed and runs on top of them, which is why it costs more for the same underlying hardware.

Do I need a VPS or is shared hosting enough?

Shared hosting is enough for a normal WordPress blog, a portfolio, or a small business site. You need a VPS when you require root access, want to run Node.js, Python or Docker, need guaranteed resources for a busy store, or are hosting several client sites that must not affect each other.

What is the VPS renewal price at Hostinger?

KVM 1 renews at ₹999/month against a ₹599 intro rate, KVM 2 at ₹1,199 against ₹799, KVM 4 at ₹2,399 against ₹1,099, and KVM 8 at ₹4,399 against ₹2,199. The jump is smaller than on their shared plans but still real — factor it in before you commit.

Can I run WordPress on a VPS?

Yes, and it will usually be faster than shared hosting — but you are responsible for the whole stack. If you want VPS-level resources without becoming a sysadmin, either use a managed layer like Cloudways or stay on managed cloud hosting instead. Running WordPress on an unmanaged VPS you never patch is worse than good shared hosting.

Which VPS is best for a Node.js app?

Any of the unmanaged providers will do it — DigitalOcean, Vultr and Hostinger KVM all give you root and let you run whatever you like. Pick based on RAM budget and whether you want an Indian data-centre region. Managed WordPress-oriented hosting cannot run Node at all, which is the mistake most beginners make.

Does VPS hosting include a free domain?

Usually not. Hostinger currently includes a free domain for the first year with its KVM plans, which is unusual for VPS. DigitalOcean, Vultr and Cloudways do not sell domains at all — you register separately and point the DNS at your server.

Final verdict

For most Indian buyers the honest answer is Hostinger KVM — not because it is the most sophisticated platform here, but because 4GB of RAM at ₹599/month with rupee billing and a free domain is simply better value than the dollar-priced alternatives at the same spec. Buy KVM 2 if you are running anything with real traffic.

Choose DigitalOcean instead if you are a developer who will use the API and snapshots — the $200 signup credit makes the first year close to free. Choose Cloudways if the honest answer to “will you patch this server every month?” is no.

Best value pick

Hostinger KVM 1 — ₹599/mo, 4GB RAM, 50GB NVMe, 4TB bandwidth, free domain for year one and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Renews at ₹999/mo, so buy the longest term you are comfortable with.
